Amazing Video Of Two Great White Sharks Battling

A battle between two great white sharks was filmed by Diver Adam Malski 50 kilometers off the coast of South Australia's Neptune Islands. The islands are a popular destination for tourists interested in great white sharks. The bigger shark was a 4.8 meter Carcharodon carcharias known as Gilbert. The unnamed smaller shark has not been seen since the fight (I’m naming him June Einstein), so Malski does not know if he managed to swim away from the bigger one or worst… died.

Watch the video below:

The dramatic conflict might explain what happened to a 3-m great white whose electronic tag washed up on a beach with information revealing it spent eight days in the belly of a larger predator, suspected to have been a really large great white.

Australian Beach Invaded By Thousands of Alien Green Balls

Fluffy green aliens? Not really, but that doesn't make the settlement of living balls that took up residence on an Australian beach last weekend any less unusual.

Alien Eggs On Sydney's Dee Why Beach

There have been some fairly odd beachgoers at Dee Why Beach outside of Sydney, Australia lately: huge numbers of small, green fluffy balls that are actually living. These soft orbs, about six centimeters in diameter, are actually a form of algae (Aegagropila linnaei) called marimo. Previously, marimo balls have been found in Japan, Iceland, and Scotland, so their appearance in Australia is quite strange.

"They're actually a really odd growth form of seaweed, because seaweeds mostly grow on the rocks but seldom they get knocked off and rolled around in the ocean forming these stunning little balls,” Alistair Poore from the University of New South Wales explained to 7News."It's quite an unusual event, it's only been seen a handful of times around the world.”. Watch the video below:

First discovered in the 1820s by Austrian botanist Anton Eleutherius Sauter, and named by Japanese botanist Tatsuhiko Kawakami in 1898 ("marimo" roughly means "bouncy play ball” in Japanese), colonies of these little balls have only been seen off the coast of Iceland, Scotland, Japan, Estonia and now Australia. According to Rachel Nuwer at Smithsonian Magazine, in Iceland, the balls have been given a less adorable nickname, referred to as kúluskítur or “ball muck”.

I suppose no one will be surprised when I say that in Japan, as well as being a natural phenomenon, marimo are a beloved ‘pet’.

Can Video Games Make You Smarter?

If you always knew (or at least figured) video games made you sharper, you've been validated—there’s research now to prove it. A new study conducted at the University of Toronto found that non-gamers who played a first-person shooter game demonstrated improved visual attention, a crucial skill that comes into play when you’re say, driving a car, or shooting hoops. One group of people were assigned to play the action shooter game (the kind where you try to hit some kind of target) while the rest were asked to work on a puzzle. Those who played the action game had changes in brain activity consistent with processes that enhance visual attention and suppress distracting information, says Sijing Wu, a PhD student and lead author of the study. Those who played the puzzle game only didn't experience the same mind-honing benefits (this might explain why no one ever really beats Super Tetris). Watch the video below:

Improved selective visual attention (such as the ability to quickly detect and identify a target in a cluttered background) is important for daily activities like tripping or monitoring changes on a computer display, says Ian Spence, the psychology professor who led the team. Ultimately, what you decide to do with your enhanced focus and vision is up to you. But the next time your brain’s feeling fuzzy, we say put down the laptop and hop on.

What Is So Naked About Bench's The Naked Truth?

Brain freeze. Want to hear a story about Humpty Dumpty wearing Prada instead?

Couple Found After 700 Years Still Holding Each Others Hand

“Til death do us part” is just a love quote, but for some, an eternal vow. Archeologists from the University of Leicester have been excavating the "lost" chapel of St. Morrell in east Leicestershire and have recently announced the discovery of 11 human skeletons so far, all of which date back about 700 years. Two of these skeletons include a man and a woman who were buried together and have been holding hands since the 14th century.
Holding hands for 700 years
“We have seen related skeletons before from Leicester where a couple has been buried together in a single grave,” Vicki Score of the University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) said in a press release. “The main question we find ourselves asking is why were they buried up there? There is a perfectly good church in Hallaton. This leads us to wonder if the chapel could have served as some sort of special place of burial at the time.”
St. Michael was the main church in the town of Hallaton, though the the Chapel of St. Morrell wasn’t too far away. Hallaton was a very busy and bustling town during the Middle Ages, with frequent fairs and attractions that would have drawn in tourists and tradesmen. It is possible that the recovered skeletons were people who were ill, foreign, or possibly criminals, who would not have been allowed inside St. Michael’s church.
Whatever the reason for them to be buried away from the main church, the bodies were still positioned east-west, as was the Christian tradition of the day. This was done to prepare the dead for the Resurrection. Clergy members were buried facing the opposite direction, as to be facing the congregation.
In addition to the lovers holding hands, the archeologists discovered an older man who appears to have died as a result from a blow to the head, likely from a pole axe during battle. A younger man was found with damaged teeth and his knees drawn up to his chest.
The teams also found materials from the chapel itself and have determined the chapel’s floor plan. Stone masonry, plaster from walls, tile, and silver coins dating from the 12th-16th centuries have been found at the site. The crew plans to continue excavating the chapel and will also continue on with cemetery. Unfortunately, most records and any images regarding the church have been lost over time, so the full context of this site may be open to interpretation.

New Creature Discovered Underneath The Ocean Floor

Viral Stuff and Trending News
picture [Siphonophore]
While there are no scarcity of wacky ideas in science fiction about what creatures from other planets might look like, many bizarre and extraordinary creatures can actually be found right here on Earth.

Recently, a team from the Nautilus Live expedition piloting a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) happened upon one of the most fascinating-looking lifeforms in the world: a rare, purple siphonophore roving through the ocean’s depths. Even the knowledgeable deep sea explorers, well-acquainted with the marine animals, had a tough time accepting that what they were seeing was really existent.

“Wow. Okay, that’s awesome,” says one ROV operator. “I can’t believe that’s a living thing.”

Astonishingly, although this appears to be a single jellyfish-like animal, it is in fact a wandering colony made up of thousands of individual organisms, called zooids, each contributing to the whole. However, more than just its unearthly shape, this specimen's purple coloring is said to be rather strange as well.

Deep Sea News writer R.R. Helm calls it a “shocking shade”, remarking that this footage truly stands out.

“To me, the best part of science is stuff like this: seeing something that completely takes my breath away. Even after studying animals like this for the last five years, this video has me in awe. The animal captured in this footage, simply put, is stunning,” wrote Helm.

Facts About Osteoarthritis

As we age, symptoms of osteoarthritis may begin to manifest: joint pain and stiffness on the hand, wrist, neck, back, knee and hip. Previous injuries may be a precipitating factor, as well as being overweight.

Viral Stuff and Trending News

Osteoarthritis is a form of arthritis that  features the breakdown and eventual loss of the cartilage of one or more joints. Cartilage is a protein substance that serves as a "cushion" between the bones of the joints. Among the over 100 different types of arthritis conditions, osteoarthritis is the most common, affecting over 25 million people in the United States. Osteoarthritis occurs more frequently  in females. In the United States, all races appear equally affected. A higher incidence of osteoarthritis exists among the Japanese, while South-African blacks, East Indians, and Southern Chinese have lower rates.  Osteoarthritis  is abbreviated as OA or referred to as degenerative arthritis or degenerative joint disease (DJD).

Commonly, Osteoarthritis affects the hands, feet, spine, and large weight bearing joints such as the hips and knees Osteoarthritis usually has no known cause and is referred to as primary osteoarthritis . Spray-on Clothing, Future Technology

High fashion meets future tech, with this new spray-on clothing invented by a Spanish fashionisto. The creator also hopes to use this technology for "spray-on bandages" and "hygienic upholstery". Manel Torres worked with scientists at Imperial College London to invent the amazing-string-like spray, announced just in time for Fashion Week.

Viral Stuff and Trending News

The sprayable shirt consists of short fibers mixed with polymers, dissolved into a solvent that allows it to be sprayed from an aerosol can or high-pressure gun. Torres can use wool, linen or acrylic fibers to change the texture of the fabric, the Guardian reports. The resulting fabric can be removed and washed with the rest of your laundry.

Don't like the color or feel? Simply dissolve it, using the same solvent, and start over. Demonstrating the technology for British media, Torres sprayed it on two models to create form-fitting shirts. The spray is very cold when it hits the skin, but it dries instantly upon impact. He takes care to spray extra fibers on the sleeves, ensuring it will be strong enough to withstand normal movement. Initially, it resembles body paint in the way it fits against the skin, but as soon as you start moving, it wrinkles just like a normal shirt.

Torres worked with chemical engineers to devise the system, and the definitive goal is a sanitary spray-on bandage system to instantly bring medication, dress wounds or pacify burnt skin. But fashionable tops are a great way to showcase the technology. After all, it can be annoying to pull on a form-fitting shirt, especially if you don't want to mess up your hair. Now you can just spray it on instead.

Ways to Protect Your Body Against Cancer

Every person has cancer cells in the body. The cancer cells cannot be seen if examined unless it has reached billions. If the doctor says that a person has no more cancer after treatment, it simply means that cancerous cell growth has dropped down below the billion levels, and is no longer visible upon examination.

In a person's lifetime, cancer cells may surface six to 10 times. Here are some tips to prevent cancer cells from surfacing:

Keep a Strong Resistance
If a person's resistance is strong, the runaway group of cancer cells can be contained and overcome. One way to promote strong resistance is daily exercise.

Genetic
If your family has a history of cancer, you have a high probability of inheriting  the same tendency, especially if you live in degraded environment, have poor nutrition, or engage excessively in vices. In this situation the only thing that you can do is prevent it from spreading, it may sound abrupt but let's face it.

Singing, law-making and basketball... Seriously Manny? Oh Come On!

Something extraordinary happened to Filipino world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao during his visit this week to California. Many people recognize that the Philippine congressman’s succeeding love and passion next to boxing is basketball. Just a moment ago, he was allotted as a playing coach for the KIA Sorentos, the latest professional team to unite the Philippine Basketball Association, the Filipino corresponding person of the U.S. National Basketball Association.

The Warriors were very overwhelmed with Pacquiao’s basketball skills during an impromptu practice diversion he had with the American players at the Oakland in the Oracle Arena. The rest is record; Pacquiao left the stadium with a signed three-year agreement with the Warriors.

It’s a dream come true for him, Pacquiao told the media in his inhabitant Tagalog.  “I will show the warrior and I’m happy that they did not make an error in picking me.” From being a boxing idol, congressman, singer, and pastor in the first place, Pacquiao loves basketball. Pointy-mouth fade-away shot

I’m surprised the first time I examine an article that says Manny Pacquiao is playing basketball in PBA. And not just a team member, but he force to be a “playing coach”. Pacquiao allegedly reached agreement with KIA Motors as playing coach for their players that will debut on October 21 in the (PBA). Playing basketball in the PBA is another dream comes true for Manny Pacquiao. Before he found accomplishment in boxing, I know he dreamed also to suit a PBA player — just like any other Filipinos and that includes me. I know that many boxing fans (even die hard Pacquiao fans) raise an eyebrow on Pacquiao decision to play basketball. I read many downbeat posts on Facebook criticize the eight division champion on his purpose to play ball. The one that captures my interest is an article at Philippines boxing written by Ricah Trinidad on May 11. The headline reads “please don’t appoint PACQUIAO AS A MASCOT”.

Pacquiao also guaranteed the plan to suit up in the PBA has previously been unoccupied with his promoter, Top Rank big boss Bob Arum, who has reportedly extended his boxing promotional contract until 2016.

Mount Tavurvur

Viral Stuff and Trending News
Mount Tavurvur, Papua New Guinea

Tavurvur volcano is one of the most active stratovolcano and most dangerous volcano in Papua New Guinea that lies near Rabaul on the island of New Britain. It's a sub vent of the Rabaul Caldera that lies on the eastern larger rim feature. The Eruption of the volcano totally destroyed the town nearby Rabaul in 1994.
Rabaul exploded ferociously last 1994 and shocked the lively city of Rabaul. Since the young cone of Tavurvur was located inside the caldera and has been the site near persistent activity in form of vulcanian and strombolian ash eruption. Caldera has a cryptic form 14 x by 9 km and surrounded by a sudden volcanic ridge quite a few hundred meters high and erupted just on Friday, August 29, 2014.

The Volcanic activity inside caldera since the last caldera forming eruption produced a variety of lavas range from basaltic to dacitic. Several vents have built residue cones, including the historical active Tavurvur and Vulcan. Other vents which includes Turanguna, Sulphur Creek, Rabalanakia, Kombiu, and Beehives. Last 1994, Tavurvur and Vulcan erupted simultaneously, forcing the temporary rejection of Rabaul city.
The 8 x 14 km caldera was created by at least two major eruptions. One about 7100 years ago created Tavui caldera off shore to the north and a second eruption about 1400 years ago formed the current day shape. Plinian eruptions deposited thick tuff layers from pyroclastic flows that form the gentle outer slope of the volcanic compound.

Last September 19, 1994 in the morning two volcanic cones on the opposed sides of the 6 km Rabaul caldera begun erupting with the warning. The discovery of Space Shuttle flew just east of the eruption about 24 hours after in progress and near the climax of its activity. At the bottom of the eruption column is a layer of yellow and brown ash being scattered by lower level winds. A sharp edge moving away from the center of the eruption in the lower cloud is a pound of laterally moving ash which outcome from a volcanic blast. A tiny phreatic eruption at Tavurvur in 1937 consist of an aggressive mist explosion that wretched out the main central depression. In 1993, the main focus of eruption was at Vulcan, a new vent at Rabaul. At least 441 people were killed by pyroclastic flow and tephra in the 1937 eruption. A temperate sized unstable eruption (VEI=2) begun at Tavurvur on June 6, 1941. Perceptible ancestor activity began 16 months earlier. Tavurvur also erupt in late 1943. It was the last eruption at Tavurvur preceding to the 1994 outbreak.

Tavurvur become constant to produce explosions in early 1995. Bigger explosions produced plume that rose 3 km above the cone. Some of the explosion throw blocks about 1,700 feet to the bay. The lightning was seen in some of the explosion clouds. In March, a lava mass was practical inside the crater of Tavurvur. In April, eruption stopped at Tavurvur and citizens returned to the city of Rabaul. A single death, cause by flooding, was allied with the explosion.

Comet 67p

Comet 67p
Comet 67p which is also called ESA’s Rosetta orbiter has now moved in so close to its comet prey that the earliest body overwhelms the screen,  and breaks the arrangement  to seize the complete scene of the bizarre world and so it can find the most satisfactory spot or where it can fit for the momentous Philae landing. Rosetta has pinched and accommodates the comet to collect high definition views of Comet 67P/ with the navcam camera on Sunday, August 31. The purpose in taking the images is to find a technically realistic Philae touchdown site that is both scientifically interesting and safe. The navcam image raster series was taken from comet 67P from a distance of 61 km.

According to ESA’s Rosetta statement roughly one quarter of the comet can be seen in the corner of each of its four images. The four images that  are taken over an approximately 20 minute period, It means that there is some movements of the spacecraft and rotation of the comet between the images. As a result, making a clean arrangement out of the four images is not simple. This is the first mission of Rosetta including first history that attempt to orbit a comet for such a long term of study. The history of Philae is making landing on a comet 67p is contemporary scheduled for around November 11 2014 and will be totally automatic. The 100 Lander is furnished with 10 science instruments. In an ESA statement, Stephan Ulamic, Lander Manger at German Aerospace Center (DLR), he stated that the first time landing sites on a comet has been considered.

Everyone is waiting to select a suitable landing zone as soon as possible since the comet activates and the surface becomes ever more active as it obtain closer to the sun and makes the landing ever more dangerous. A hundreds of comets flies around the Solar System and each of them is a possible target for ESA's comet pursuing Rosetta mission. The science team was faced with the difficult task of shifting as the mission took shape, through these candidates until they  recognized a handful of suitable objects.

One of the numerous short period is Comet 67p which have orbital periods of at least 20 years and a low orbital tendency. Since the orbits are controlled by the gravity of Jupiter and they are also called comet's Jupiter Family. Comet 67p is classified as dusty comet with a dust to emission of gas ratio of about 2:1. The production of peak dust rate in 2002-2003 was estimated around 60 kg per second, although as greater as 220 kg per second was reported in 1982-1983. During that period, no jets are visible.

If the comet act correctly as in 2003-2009, the main jets will become perceptible visible a month before perihelion, i.e. in the middle of July 2015. This late inception of the major activity will be good news for everybody's concern with the security of Rosetta and Philae Lander
